The researchers set out to understand how this drought tolerance came about by comparing the set of
expressed genes (the transcriptome) in the mutants to that in normal (so - called
wild -
type) plants.

wild -
type stage 15 embryos with E. coli constitutively

expressing either
wild -

Remarkably, the relative expression levels of all marker genes were only slightly decreased when R206H ACVR1 and Q207D caACVR1 cultures were cotransfected with Noggin, whereas cells
expressing the
wild -
type ACVR1 or empty viral vector showed clear downregulation of all analyzed marker genes for chondrogenesis.
C. elegans
expressing a modified form of human amyloid - β survived three or four more days following infection in the gut with Candida albicans, compared to
wild -
type worms that did not
express the peptide.
Of special note today: gut microbiota species
expressing orthologs of human Ro60 might be involved in triggering and sustaining chronic autoimmunity in lupus; The portal vein blood microbiome in patients with liver cirrhosis; A randomized clinical study suggests dietary promotion of short chain fatty acid producing gut microbes as an effective treatment for
type 2 diabetes; and the sexual dimorphism of root, flower and leaf microbiomes in the
wild strawberry plant
Young mice that
expressed high levels of human amyloid - β (but did not have pathological plaques) infected in the brain with Salmonella typhimurium were more likely to survive the infection compared to
wild -
type mice that did not
express the peptide, Tanzi, Moir, and their colleagues found.
(H) and (I) At 15 DAS (H) and 16 DAS (I), SvBd1 was
expressed at the boundaries of incipient lateral organs (yellow arrows) in developing spikelets in A10.1
wild -
type inflorescences, but not in bristles.
In bsl1 - 1 mutants, Bsl1 signal was comparable to the
wild type at early stages of development (Supplemental Figure 9E); however, by ∼ 16 DAS, Bsl1 transcripts became ectopically
expressed outside of the defined domain and accumulated at the base of developing spikelets (Figure 7E).
Our RNA - seq analyses showed that SvBd1 (Sevir.2 G437800), encoding the ortholog of a conserved AP2 - ERF TF, which specifies SM identity in maize and other grasses (Chuck et al., 2002), was
expressed at substantially higher levels in the bsl1 - 1 mutant compared with the
wild type, consistent with increased production of spikelets in place of bristles (Table 2).
(G) At 14 DAS, SvBd1 was
expressed in a semicircular domain (yellow arrow) at the base of all AMs prior to spikelet or bristle formation in
wild -
type inflorescences.
Among the 287 DE genes that were
expressed higher in
wild -
type panicles, functional enrichment analyses showed that genes involved in nutrient sensing and signaling («cellular response to nutrient levels»; GO: 0031669; P = 8.58 e − 04), notably nitrogen and sugar related, were overrepresented.
Given that our
wild type B. burgdorferi acquired by xenodiagnostic ticks retain the ability to
express ospC (also shown by RT - PCR in Fig 4), we can not rule out the possibility that a tick midgut - adapted phenotype, in the absence of salivation and feeding, contributed to the failure of the B. burgdorferi acquired from XT to infect SCID mice.
Since it is known that GBP regulates growth in a concentration - dependent manner in lepidopterans [16], we used the temperature - sensitive properties of Gal4 to modify the level of transgene
