extended breastfeeding is not without challenges but being prepared to meet these challenges will make the
experience all the more beneficial for both you and your child.
I am really interested to know other people's

extended breastfeeding — are you still doing it?
The more that I listen to other women and families describe their
experiences with
breastfeeding, I realize that
breastfeeding successfully has much to do with how much support a new mother is given by her partner, family, friends, and
extended community (like parenting groups, hospitals, etc.).
The decision to supplement or night - wean is something for each mom to decide on her own, but at least in my
experience, even if a mom is dead - set on the idea to
extend breastfeeding, there are plenty of moments when exhaustion causes her to re-think her decision.
We are parents who «fell into» attachment parenting and having this community to guide us with
experienced advice on
extended breastfeeding, co-sleeping, gentle discipline, etc. has been invaluable.

So, the term «
extended breastfeeding» assumes that the specific cultural and material conditions that middle - and upper - class contemporary Westerners

experience and relatively short, unique period in time is somehow abnormal.
