galleries of Newcastle's BALTIC
gallery is a presentation of Robert Breer's
extensive oeuvre.
Having recently worked on conserving and restoring Looking for Langston
images from his
extensive archive, he exhibited of photographic works at Victoria Miro
Gallery, London (2017), Jessica Silverman
Gallery, San Francisco (2016) and Ron Mandos
Gallery, Amsterdam (2016) with a screening of the film in its original 16 mm print at Tate Britain.
Complementary programming includes an
extensive series of lectures and
gallery talks in Madison and other areas of the state; Wisconsin Triennial blog featuring
images, videos, recorded commentary from participating artists, and curatorial notes; and the museum's first - ever cell - phone tour.
Densely illustrated with archival photographs, letters, and
images of the artist's works of the period, Soulages in America features an essay by Harry Cooper, head of modern art at the National
Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., as well as an
extensive interview with Soulages by journalist Philippe Ungar.
