One of the things that I have become pleased about, is the increasing number of scientists who are pointing out the beneficial effects of slightly raised temperatures and CO2 levels on agriculture and forestry, with projected higher rainfall and bountiful growth being a result that will help feed increasing populations without having to increase
the extent of agricultural lands.

Much
of Australia's past research and innovation has focussed on increasing
agricultural yields and improving the efficiency
of land harvesting and to a lesser
extent supply chains.
Most studies
of this kind look only at the
extent to which climate shocks affect crop yield — the amount
of product harvested from a given unit
of agricultural land.
In fact human
agricultural practices have greatly increased the
extent of arid
lands, from which such dusts could arise.
Thus, to the greatest
extent possible, policies at all levels should be designed and implemented to meet four goals: (i) In sustainable ways, maintain and increase the security
of food supplies for food insecure people, particularly in developing countries; (ii) Enable small - scale food producers and other vulnerable populations to become more resilient to climate change; (iii) Sustainably reduce emissions from the
agricultural sector; and (iv) Reduce emissions from the conversion

land to agriculture.
Whilst not technically evolving the field
of agricultural law, I like to think that I have been proactive in raising the profile
of succession planning and its importance to the
extent that the
Land Agents, Accountants, Financial Advisers and Clients, with whom I deal know that I am a «woman on a mission», to ensure that succession is planned and does not happen by default e.g. on death with all the appallingly difficult ramifications that can have for both the business and the family.
