Adding a second review to say that if you use maple syrup for this recipe, you will need to bake longer than if you use honey, to
evaporate the
extra liquid.
Add an
extra 1/2 cup water if the
liquid evaporates before the rice is tender.
The
extra liquid and the texture of the potatoes is because you're using the slowcooker - the
liquid doesn't
evaporate during cooking and it tends to make the texture of vegetables a lot softer.
