While
the facial animations seen in preview builds and trailers aren't good enough to rival L.A. Noire, they've been promised to be good enough to let you judge a characters reaction and personality.
Writing on the game's official forums, Remedy's development director Markus Mäki has said that the somewhat dodgy
facial animations seen in the soon - to - be-released Alan Wake will be improved upon in the game's post-launch add - on content.

The backgrounds are beautiful and the
facial expressions of the drawings are really great (I ca n`t
see why did n`t they move their mouths) but the
animations are really crappy.
While the relative novelty of
seeing Lego - based
animation on the big screen hasn't completely worn off yet — the scuffed - up surfaces, simple
facial expressions, and jam - packed Where's Waldo?
There's the occasional moment when Demonicon actually manages to look pretty, as you can
see from a couple of the screenshots adorning this page, but overall this is a visually weak game with stiff movement and
facial animations.
It'll be interesting to
see how far the folks at Guerrilla will be able to push the
animation of the new game, especially considering that Killzone Shadowfall's
facial animation was good, but fell slightly into the realm of the uncanny valley.
Team Bondi's L.A. Noire, due out in Spring 2011, will sport some of the most realistic
facial animations ever
seen in games.

facial animation is that humans are best at identifying one thing — faces.
The teams are working together to bring Hellblade «s main character to life (and presumably some more of the characters / enemies we'll
see in the game) Cubic Motion will be providing the game's
facial animation using its stereo head - mounted...
Injustice 2 has some of the best looking
facial animations I've ever
seen in a video game.
Heavy Rain gets closer than any previous game to conveying the sense that you are controlling the protagonists in an interactive movie — firmly entrenched in the film noir genre, its storyline (twist - laden, naturally) is able to suck you in completely, thanks to the most convincing
facial and bodily
animation yet
seen in a game.
The
facial animations aren't much better than the PS2 generation, voice acting and script are really bad, screen tearing and AA are sub-par at best, object pop - in is some of the worst I've
seen in a long time, the game world is empty and so on.
Injustice 2 has some of the most impressive
facial animations I've
seen in any video game.
But in practice, you get some rather weird, misshapen creations, whose
facial animations are worse than anything we've
seen since Mass Effect: Andromeda came out.
