I will bring the unique perspective to my service to the various stakeholders at The Cooper Union of not only being a first - generation college graduate myself, but having worked professionally with children and families as a New York State certified K - 12 educator; having worked professionally in the nuts and bolts arena of higher education administration; and currently working alongside diverse
faculty colleagues as a tenured, full Professor at a major research university.

Occasionally, however, I recall uneasily a
colleague's suggestion at a
faculty meeting a couple of years ago: «I would like us to consider whether we should continue to designate students» degrees
as cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude.
With respect to the
faculty of an institution, whom I prefer to think of
as «senior
colleagues,» this necessity would mean that the enfleshment of commitment and knowledge must be widely evident.
A number of women of my acquaintance admire its depth but don't think its profundity worth the price of its delivery; and among a certain group of male
faculty colleagues who've seen the movie, the town of Bruges itself apparently forever after will be referred to
as «F*cking Bruges.»
Whether this means that team teaching must be the order of the day, or whether individual
faculty members can retool themselves to draw on their
colleagues» expertise, is not
as clear.
Küng was taken completely by surprise and deeply hurt personally;
as one of the senior members of the Catholic
faculty, he had been a key figure in the appointment of all seven persons and had regarded them
as supportive friends

Added to all that, through the UVEI Principal Intern Program, I've developed a network of new
colleagues — my cohort members, our mentors, principals and superintendents — who shared their on - the - job experiences,

as the
faculty at UVEI.
Some teachers are very skilled at some of this, so what we try to do is recruit from among the
faculty eight to ten people that we then train
as facilitators and coaches, so that
as people are learning new knowledge and skills, their home grown facilitators are working with their

as an Academic Law Librarian and Legal Research Professor, my
colleagues and I debated with the question of whether or not we should be (1) tenure track and, if so, (2) considered part of the law school
faculty and invited to participate in the governance of the school.

faculty council meetings where she says she was targeted, overall, she says, she felt she was not supported in fulfilling her mandate.
And where legal writing
faculty are required to produce scholarship, either for a promotion in rank or security of position, it may seem wiser to write in a traditional subject area likely to be considered by their tenured
colleagues as more intellectual or worthwhile.
Some of our
colleagues at UNLV have conceptualized the evolution of legal writing scholarship
as a series of leaps.2 The first big leap was to take an interdisciplinary approach to writing about teaching writing.3 The second leap was to build community by creating spaces of our own, such
as LWI, the Journal, and then later, JAWLD.4 The third leap was to develop a rich, often interdisciplinary approach to studying and writing about legal writing.5 In their article, Linda Berger, Linda Edwards, and Terry Pollman suggested — hoped, perhaps, and I along with them — that scholarship relating to legal analysis, skills and practice is no longer considered inferior to traditional legal scholarship.6 The growing number of schools where legal writing
faculty have achieved equal status due at least in part to their legal writing scholarship suggests we have made significant progress
as a result of these leaps.7
They would not face the ramifications of graduating more students but would ensure that their
colleagues all remained employed
as faculty members.
Now in 2010, I work
as a tenured professor with
colleagues on the tenure track; teach 30 students in the legal writing courses and others in doctrinal classes and seminars; have a «chair» attached to my job title; and am paid on an equal scale with other
faculty.4
