Fad diets often warp your relationship with food, fill you with shame and guilt, damage your metabolism and generally make eating a struggle.
For many years now, people have been using a crash /
fad diet often referred to as the «Mayo Clinic Diet» — despite the diet having no connection or endorsement with the Mayo Clinic.

They think «dairy» and that's it — making the
diet a true
fad, because the
diet is done in their head — but not in their actual plate - and
often the same can be said to the gluten free
diet.
But for many people it's
often just another
fad diet.
Although the gluten - free
diet has become more of a
fad than anything,
often mistaken as a weight loss
diet or as a miracle solution to whatever ails us, I'm happy to see that those who genuinely need to steer clear of gluten and wheat have more options.
However, as one of the pitfalls to many of these
fad diets, people more
often than not tend to get rid of the
diet after a few weeks or months and end up gaining all of the weight back.
Fad diets are shortsighted, extreme and
often unhealthy regimens that promise rapid weight loss to profit from desperate dieters.
Fad diets, weight loss gimmicks, books and fitness magazines
often lead you to believe weight loss can be easy.
Our nutrition education in medical school was woefully inadequate (see Dr. G's video on that), and doctors are
often just as confused as patients are about what they read, because there is so much misinformation out there about nutrition and the latest
fad diets.
People
often mentioned how they felt this was just another
fad diet, and that it was not sustainable for long term use.
