Holiness for me was found in the mess
and labour of giving birth, in birthday parties
and community pools, in the battling sweetness of breastfeeding, in the repetition of cleaning, in the step of
faith it took to go back to church again, in the hours of chatting that have to precede the real heart - to - heart talks, in the yelling at my kids sometimes, in the crying in restaurants with broken hearted friends, in the uncomfortable silences at our bible study when we're all weighing whether or not to say what we really think, in the arguments inherent to staying in
love with each other, in the unwelcome number on the scale, in the sounding out of vowels during bedtime book reading, in the dust
and stink
and heat of a tent city in Port au Prince, in the beauty of a soccer game in the Haitian dust, in the listening to someone else's story, in the
telling of my own brokenness, in the repentance, in the secret
telling and the secret keeping, in the suffering
and the mourning, in the late nights tending sick babies, in confronting fears, in the all of a life.

It wasn't the summer that brought an end to my doubt, but it was the summer I encountered a different Jesus, a Jesus who requires more from me than intellectual assent
and emotional allegiance; a Jesus who associated with sinners
and infuriated the religious; a Jesus who broke the rules
and refused to cast the first stone; a Jesus who gravitated toward sick people
and crazy people, homeless people
and hopeless people; a Jesus who preferred story to exposition
and metaphor to syllogism; a Jesus who answered questions with more questions,
and demands for proof with demands for
faith... a Jesus who healed each person differently
and saved each person differently; a Jesus who had no list of beliefs to check off, no doctrinal statements to sign, no surefire way to
tell who was «in»
and who was «out»; a Jesus who
loved after being betrayed, healed after being hurt,
and forgave while being nailed to a tree; a Jesus who asked his disciples to do the same...

There are places where he resorts to the imagery of myth
and speaks of Christ as if he were living an unseen life with God in a heavenly realm above, from which he would descend to appear on the earth at the imminent end - time.38 At other times Paul could speak of the church as the body of Christ, of which the Christian believers formed «the limbs
and organs».39 He exhorted the Galatians to «put on Christ as a garment», 40 he said to the Romans, «Let Christ Jesus himself be the armor that you wear», 41
and he
told the Galatians how he was in travail until they «took the shape of Christ».42 In various ways Paul spoke of the risen Christ as an indwelling presence in the believer, the most moving passage being his own testimony, I have been crucified with Christ; the life I now live is not my life, but the life which Christ lives in me;
and my present bodily life is lived by
faith in the Son of God who
loved me
and gave himself up for me.»

and they don't want forgiveness.

love of the Catholic
faith.»
Paul makes the same point, but even more emphatically, when he
tells us it doesn't matter how right we are, how spiritually gifted we are, how intelligent or wise we are, or even how much
faith and service we display: if these aren't accompanied by
love, they are a noisy gong or clanging cymbal (I Cor 13:1 - 3).
If Christianity continues to
tell you that WHEN you get your act together — God will finally open his arms, the representatives of this
faith are not understanding the premier principal of God — through Christ he
loves you NOW — but when his
love begins to radiate into your personal life - your very personal life - you will make choices reflecting that reality — all other things, people, dogmas, Biblical interpretations — all of that through the long centuries of man — will be a drop in His eternal ocean
and in that first eternal moment — won't matter - your needs now matter — Christ addresses need — with Himself — demands — with parabolic events —
and refusal — with the end result of free will — even the will to reject Him — when He would have done anything for you to not be rejected.

loving),
and The Lost World of Genesis One (which we will discuss next week).

faith or lack thereof... these are harmful.

and Eve were
and so are we.Its interesting that because of satans fall satan is now Gods lap dog he gives him a leash
and tells him his constraints
and he allows him to test his people so that through testing he builds our
faith and so we can say that all things work for good to those that
love God.brentnz Holiness in the prescence of sin makes it more holy so they help to define what is holy
and what is evil or sin.We see that all the way through the bible so they co-exist temporarily until evil has run its course
and then God will judge
and we know that satan is cast into the fiery pit for ever.Even towards satan God is merciful.brentnz

Judged, despised, cursed by gods she has long since lost
faith in, Clytemnestra reveals the tragic saga that led to these bloody actions: how her husband deceived her eldest daughter Iphigeneia with a promise of marriage to Achilles, only to sacrifice her because that is what he was
told would make the winds blow in his favor
and take him to Troy; how she seduced
and collaborated with the prisoner Aegisthus, who shared her bed in the dark
and could kill; how Agamemnon came back with a lover himself;
and how Clytemnestra finally achieved her vengeance for his stunning betrayal - his quest for victory, greater than his
love for his child.
