Thirdly, just as Christian scriptures are the gift of the Word of God

All my life I've been taught that the Church is at its best when the theology is consistent and everyone agrees with one another, but when my very
faith was on the line, it was the diversity of the Christian
tradition that
offered me so much hope.
My argument here is that the
traditions of the oldline churches at their best do

Throughout the 1970s and 80s
Faith magazine often protested against these betrayals of Catholic truth and of God's people, all the while calling for and
offering the outlines of a development of doctrine which is faithful to the teaching of Gaudium et Spes and the
tradition.

faiths offer alternate and parallel avenues of God's saving action.
