Here practice refers not to the acquisition and application of a technical skill, but to a complex pattern of interaction by which people elaborate structures and theories
of faithful life over time.
Even beyond the sexuality conversation, it's encouraging for me to observe those who
lead faithful lives — to learn from their examples, both positive and negative.
We will now proceed to explore
what faithful living means with regard to possessions and the use of money.

I do find that this blog is focused too much on definition and not on what it means to live
a faithful life.
What sorts and sources of knowing should we consider compelling as we seek to live
faithful lives; in other words, Where do we need to look to learn what we need to know so that we may do what we ought to do?
Indeed I often pray the Offertory prayer in my own private devotions before the Blessed Sacrament: (Suscipe Sancte Pater...) «Accept O Holy Father Almighty and Eternal God, this holy and unblemished victim which I thy unworthy servant offered unto Thee, my living and true God for my own innumerable sins, offences and negligence and for all here present and for all
the faithful living and dead that it may profit me and them for salvation to eternal life».
But in the meantime
the faithful live in the tension between the change that has already come into being through their dying to the life of sin and the continuing power of sin.
What is involved in
faithful living is immensely important, but it is not settled by appeal to moral principles.
By thus being united with Jesus,
the faithful live in confidence that they will rise with him and share in his glory.
This doesn't mean that there is no place in
the faithful life for fun or recreation or simply goofing off, or for careful financial planning, or for working hard to attain personal goals.

Our conclusion stands: we must replace the concept of salvation from sin in this life, and its negative and inadequate emphasis on avoidance, with the idea of living
a faithful life.
Practical theology, emerging out of life in a faith community, is a doxological mode of reflection that, by placing itself within the context of the church's service to God, attempts to facilitate the goal of
a faithful life in the present on behalf of God's future.
Let me state it more clearly: I believe that not even a commitment to obedience and
faithful living is required.

faithful life in the world is equally indispensable.
