We don't understand why people believe in myths that support these sorts of things and yes, it is easy to
fall into cynicism and insult.
Instead of
falling into cynicism, in which I doubt all scientists and their motives, thus losing any ability to benefit from science, I think it is best to trust the process and methods of science to produce the best science on which to base our decisions.
