living in Chicago, Jamie
taught at the Evanston location for 3 years, where she

I think it's because trying to
live by His
teachings is «in step» with good relationships and stability — two things I lacked when I
fell away from faith.

@ JohnR: To paraphrase a
teaching I once heard, if I told you that everyone in the world was subject to the law of gravity, you now have the choice to reject what I say and jump off a cliff to prove me wrong, or you can
live your
life subject to that and take caution around cliffs or other
falling hazards.
I remember movies like Fever Pitch, Serendipity and literally hundreds more
teaching me that all my problems would be solved once I met the right girl,
fell head over heels in love, hit a rough patch where we didn't talk for a minute and then came rushing back together to
live indefinitely in a state of heavenly bliss.
Instead of addressing the fact that humans are organic beings that are part of the evolutionary
life cycle, members of organized religion can
fall back on biblical quotes and canonical
teachings.
In His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5), Jesus spells out the characteristics of those who would call themselves Christians, then He proceeds to
teach how those Christians should
live in a
fallen world.
The book of Acts really
teaches us that it's all too easy — even with all the gifts of grace we have received — for the Christian community to almost entirely
fall our of step with that freedom and virtually abandon the message of
life (Paul talks in Galatians about how he stood alone for the Gospel).
It is about the
teaching of Jesus Christ and God, via the Bible, and how we can learn about history, morals, God's
teachings for our
lives and sin (which actually means «
falling short»).
Sadly our current understanding in the «Christian»
teachings falls miserably short of anything close to a supernatural manifestation by a
Living God.

taught me one of the fundamentals of
life and that is that every great man had
fallen at one point of his
life or another!
If these are the practice games of their young
lives, we need to
teach them to play well,
fall and deal with their cuts and bruises.
