Health & Safety Code § § 1596.70 et seq., strictly limits city and county regulation of
family child care homes in order to address the lack of child care availability, encourage the establishment of
family child care homes in residential communities, and to ensure a simplified regulatory process that does not place undue burdens on providers.
Cities and counties may not prohibit the operation of either small or large
family child care homes in single - family dwellings.
The Children, Youth, and Families Department licenses
family child care homes in accordance with the regulations found here.

family child care homes in DeKalb, Ogle, Lee, Whiteside, Carroll and McHenry Counties.
