The family food tradition that first comes to mind is my husband's family has had grilled steaks — prepared simply with garlic salt and pepper every single Saturday night for as long as I have know them... that is every Saturday night for at least the last 37 years!

I grew up in a Volga German
family, so the focus was always on
tradition and farm fresh
foods.
Fried
food was not part of my
family's Austro - Hungarian culinary
tradition, and my mom never fried anything at home, so, this aversion wasn't any particular loss (and has given me a great excuse as an adult to veto that particular restaurant when deciding where to dine).
This
tradition has carried on to my own
family and my kids always get a kick out of all the green
food.
Even if you're not a believer, it's a great time to start
traditions and spend some quality time with
family, and eat good
food of course.
