The fact is, 100,000 people who provide
support, guidance, and quality care to about 130,000 individuals with developmental disabilities in New York state are left out of Cuomo's campaign of «raising opportunity for workers and their
families,» because, as it stands, the governor's plan doesn't

Sustaining our democratic values and improving our education system call for a host of more coordinated and widespread education, economic, and housing policies —
including policies to raise curricular standards, tackle insufficient funding for schools with a large share of low - income students, promote access to education resources from early childhood to college, improve dual language
programs, provide economic
support for
families, and create more integrated schools and neighborhoods.
Evidence - based home - visiting
programs, like the Nurse -
Family Partnership (which relies on trained nurses to
support parents from pregnancy through the first two years of a baby's life)-- as well as center - based
programs that also
include home visits, like Early Head Start — have been shown to enhance parents» sensitivity to their infants» and toddlers» cues, lessen reliance on spanking, and increase the number of age - appropriate learning materials around the house (as well as the amount of time spent reading to kids).
The
Family and Community Learning Center in Lynn is also a site for voter registration, and free for use for local groups
including Entrepreneurship for All, La Vida Scholars, the Highlands Coalition, the Lynn City Council (Mayoral Debate and a Ward 4 Polling Site) and others who have been able to offer
programming to
support the Lynn community.

The Birth - to - College Collaborative Toolkit is designed to
support the work of all involved in early childhood and K — 12 alignment,
including program and school leaders, teachers,

My current projects
include overseeing a major building renovation project to provide our students and
families with a state - of - the - art learning facility, and designing our internal before and after school
program supporting enrichment opportunities for all students and a seamless transition from academic time to after school time.
Other
programs for which funding would be eliminated
include: a
family literacy
program at John C. Clark Elementary and Middle School in Hartford; the extended day
program at Lincoln - Bassett School in New Haven; and funding for reading instructional
supports in some of the state's lowest - performing schools would be cut by $ 250,000.

The vision for this coalition is to foster health and well - being practices in afterschool
programs nationwide, using science - based standards for healthy eating, physical activity, screen time, and social
supports for these behaviors
including staff,
family and child engagement.
Key principles
include a broader accountability framework, with elements such as health, wellness, and discipline; language undergirding the role of community school coordinators; professional development that enables principals, teachers, instructional
support personnel, and community partners to work more effectively with
families, communities, and each other; and capacity building that
supports community school partnerships and better aligns and coordinates
programs.
