Decided to go ultra low - cal and
do light sour cream, skim milk,
fat free
cheese, and turkey bacon.
I
did double the recipe and replaced the bacon with turkey bacon, and used
fat - free versions of the cream
cheese, milk and potato soup to make this a lighter dish.
For the best flavor, I highly recommend using a decent quality Feta
cheese, don't use the
fat - free stuff, it's awful!
We
do try to eat healthy most of the time, but if you're dipping something in blue

fat doesn't melt very well!)
Adding a bit of
cheese does raise the
fat meter, but not to a level that negates the wholesomeness of this meal.
Although I
did put cheddar
cheese on these, you can leave it off for a vegan meal because you get plenty of (healthy)
fat from the avocado.

fat cream
cheese rather than full
fat, so just wanted to mention that for anyone else who will try this recipe!

I didn't have any fresh chives or ricotta
cheese, and had to substitute fresh parsley and
fat - free Greek yogurt, respectively, for each.
Except for Kosher, Halal and organic products, which
do not differ from traditional
cheeses in terms of nutrient content or composition, other specialized
cheeses, such as low -
fat cheeses, may not function in exactly the same way as the traditional
cheese varieties on which they are based.
Try this healthy mac and
cheese recipe when you're craving mac and
cheese but don't want all the unhealthy saturated
fat and calories you'd find in traditional recipes.
I make a version of this but I use the laughing cow bleu
cheese wedges instead of ranch mix (also because there is SO much MSG in that mix...) and sometimes also add reduced

Be sure you're using the «brick» style of Philadelphia ORIGINAL cream
cheese; not the 1/3 less
fat neufcatchel or
fat free, nor the tub / whipped style — all of those have carbs, but the original brick
does not.
What I
did was used 3 egg whites 1 point and a pack truvia 0points,
fat free strawberry cream
cheese 1 point and some vanilla extract 0 points.
Lawd knows they are no pasta, and I wouldn't suggest
doing the Hungry Girl thing and loading them up with
fat free sour cream and Laughing Cow
cheese and pretending it's fettucine alfredo (ick).
The reason the frosting can be difficult I think is because of the low
fat cream
cheese — sometimes it makes frosting really wet so you don't have to add any liquid, sometimes it's too dry; I think it depends on the brands... Anyways, thank you for reading my blog for some time, I'm always excited to hear from long time readers!
