Coconut oil is a very healthy
fat to add to one's
diet.
But in the end it's important to remember the body needs plenty of natural
fats in order to function properly, and
coconut oil is a great way to work those
fats into your
diet.
I avoid processed
fats, like margarine or canola
oil, but whole
fats from olives, avocados,
coconuts, seeds, nuts, and humanely raised animals (butter, lard, suet, schmaltz) are a necessary part of the
diet, and lead to feeling full in ways that allow people to cut down on sugar (which is less healthy, as you say).
Saturated
fats like grass - fed butter, pastured lard, beef and lamb tallow from grazing animals,
coconut oil, and palm
oil: all of these give us nourishment in a way that other
fats and lowfat
diets never can.
In general, a healthy ketogenic
diet consists of lots of green leafy vegetables, fish and seafood, meats and organ meats, healthy

I can only speak for myself, but I feel tremendously better on a high -
fat (pastured animal
fat,
coconut oil, raw EVOO), moderate protein, moderate carb
diet with ample bone broth, liver, raw dairy and fermented foods (veges, sourdough, FCLO) than I ever did with a lean - meat and vegetable
diet of paleo.
