Since you lose richness when you cut
the fat out of a recipe, this works better with bitter or spicy cake flavors like chocolate, pumpkin, or carrot cake.
I would, however, make sure to use all or most of the oil / butter in the original recipe, so that you're not taking all of
the fat out of the recipe.

of fat (g) and sugar (g) in your
recipes or how I could work
out (as and average) how much was in them?
If any
of the
recipes below call for heavy cream, I usually substitute with chicken stock or low -
fat milk, and if they call for cheese I usually reduce the amount or leave it
out completely.

I'm trying to get off wheat and sugar, so I've been loikong for a starter

of substitutions I used half chickpea flour, I added cocoa instead

This light and healthy
recipe jumped
out at me, from the first few pages
of one
of my most recent cookbook finds — Fix - It and Forget - It Lightly: 600 Healthy Low -
Fat Recipes for Your Slow Cooker, as I was scanning for a quick and easy way to use the package
of chicken breasts sitting in the fridge.
I figured
out a ratio
of fat & liquid that worked for me and I can adapt that
recipe to create new flavors.
Leaving
out the butter altogether without substituting would not work, the
recipe needs all six tablespoons
of fat.
This
recipe, however, stands
out in a couple
of significant ways: it contains no added
fats, no sweets (i.e., carob, chocolate, candy - coated M&M's and the like so often found in «trail mix» granola varieties) and is naturally vegan.
My ultimate go - to breakfast
recipe is my smashed sardines with avocado on chia and flaxseed loaf which is full
of anti-inflammatory
fats, and wonderful for anti-ageing by supplying the skin with moisture from the inside
out.
We get 12 generous servings from that
recipe and it works
out to approximately 11.5 g
of fat (none
of it saturated!)
I left
out the spices, used 1/2 cup cocoa powder, then added chocolate, vanilla and hazelnut extracts and dropped a few cacao nibs on top
of each piece for what has to be the best

recipe word for word and when the cashew paste got into pan with the sugar and started heating up, all the
fat separated
out and it left a clump
of nut - butter and sugar sitting in a pool

So sorry to hear this Paula, yes we found that the
recipe was a little off and we added 1/2 cup
of organic full -
fat coconut milk and increased the chocolate stevia to 5 full droppers and it came
out fabulous.
When it comes to the bacon
fat that I used in the
recipe, if your bacon doesn't yield enough you can add just a little bit
of water to substitute it
out or you can just leave it as is.
