lawsuit, LSP transfers actually improve integration in both the public schools students leave and the private schools in which they enroll.

federal court.
The program has recently come under fire from the U.S. Department of Justice, which has filed a
lawsuit alleging the program is impeding
federal school -
desegregation efforts initiated in the 1970s.
While their
lawsuit would not have revoked vouchers that the state had already distributed, it would have blocked all future vouchers to students in districts under
desegregation orders without
federal permission.
