Even as it faces a multimillion - dollar financial crisis and scrambles to meet
new federal education requirements, the nation's second largest district is taking on a new challenge: restroom reform.
It is expected to help schools in the more than 1,000 districts statewide to meet updated state and
federal education requirements and laws.
The department also functions as a resource for
federal education requirements and funding.
As part of its agreement with the Office for Civil Rights, Achievement First has promised to train staff not only in
the federal education requirements for disabled students, but in the characteristics of disabilities such as autism, mood disorders, attention deficit disorder, and childhood trauma.
