The study, Impact Assessment of Clean
Fuel Standards on the Canadian
Economy, states that biofuels could be responsible for as much as 21.3 megatonnes (MT) per year of greenhouse gas emission reductions by 2030 — approximately 70 percent of the 30 MT
target set by the
federal government.
The plan would freeze
fuel economy targets at the levels required for vehicles sold in 2020, and leave those in place through 2026, according to
federal officials who have reviewed it.
