The notion that we should
feed human babies with another mammals milk is insanity.
Just as research has shown that smoking has a serious negative effect on health and the world's health organizations now strongly recommend against it, not breastfeeding has been shown to have definite health risks and consequences, and breastfeeding is now clearly understood to be the normal way to
feed a human baby.

Over the next many years, I tried to learn everything I could about breast
feeding, and specifically about how to be sure that the
babies in the NICU were given
human milk.

babies and young infants, which include better tolerance of
