These are the thoughts of Mirra — the camera - wielding, vegetarian half of The Perennial Plate — whose foodie road trip around the US has explored a halal slaughterhouse in Queens, trapping and killing
feral pigs in Texas and rooftop farming and community gardening in New York.

But given Mirra's willingness to explore tough subjects like trapping and killing
feral pigs, I think it is safe to say that she is a woman seeking to communicate about food
in all its forms and to find common ground — not judge, dismiss or convert.
When I posted on The Perennial Plate's episode on finding wild food
in New Mexico, I noted that it was an all together gentler affair than the previous weeks» footage of
feral pigs being trapped and slaughtered.
Once again, Mirra and Daniel of the Perennial Plate — the same guys who brought us footage of farmers discussing Monsanto tomatoes and trapping and killing
feral pigs — do a great job of exploring what it all means
in human terms.
