to make broth, culturing of dairy products, sprouting and traditional methods of pickling,
fermenting and leavening.
Before proceeding
to make the case for a more focused investigation of
fermented foods for mental health, it is important
to discuss the
available research on traditional dietary patterns and their ability
to influence intestinal microbiota.
Until more conclusive evidence is
available to help us answer these questions, dietary experimentation may be necessary in order
to determine an individual's tolerance for
fermented foods and FODMAPs while undergoing SIBO treatment.
