This month we've indulged in quite a
few things that we love to do, from checking in at a
few of favorite
galleries for this months exhibitions to interviewing Kimmery Martin a
local author who just debuted her first novel.
Macrossan Street is the heart of Port Douglas where you will find great
galleries featuring
local artists, great resort fashion, jewellery to name a
few.
Villa Puri Ayu nestled in the heart of ancient Sanur, and
few meters to Jalan Danau Tamblingan — Sanur, street offering assorted international and
local cuisine restaurants, delicious Balinese and Javanese warungs,
galleries, handicraft, fashion and many shops and entertainments.
Though many shops open earlier, Art After Dark officially starts at 6 p.m., with
galleries inviting you to visit, have a glass of wine and a
few nibbles, browse, and buy until 9 p.m.. On a typical Art After Dark, over 20
galleries and non-traditional art venues (think restaurants, boutiques, and salons) spotlight established and emerging
local artists.
The

local restaurants and bars, also nearby is its sister hotel, The Emerald Cover Koh Chang, where you can use their pool and sun loungers.

With new exhibitions from
local and international artists every
few months, the
gallery has become and integral part of the region's visual arts scene.
I built an online
gallery for a
local artist a
few years ago but it didn't do very well.

Besides their emergent status, the represented artists are united by the challenges they face navigating the Hong Kong art scene: lack of space, high cost of living and
few galleries that actively seek out new, or
local, talent.

Almyda and his cohort worked hard to support the
few local institutions that promoted contemporary art: among them, the Arts Festival of Atlanta, an outdoor event in Piedmont Park; the late Judith Alexander's art
gallery, which mounted exhibitions by the likes of Franz Kline; and the Signature Shop, which still serves the cause of contemporary crafts.
Gallery exhibits showcase art by
local and regional artists and change every
few months.
Few gallery shows will linger in
local memory as this one will.
