nomination, Bernie will grudgingly endorse her, and
few people
other than political technology nerds will give it much thought.
The next presidential election is nearly three years away, but in the Capitol the race is already unfolding, with no
fewer than six senators — including New York's Kirsten Gillibrand — eyeing the Democratic
nomination in 2020, with each angling to get to the left of the
others, complicating things for their colleagues seeking re-election this year.
While we're ecstatic that Avatar's loathsome original song didn't warble it's way into an Oscar
nomination, those blue aliens and a
few others did squeeze out a
few of our favorites.
The costume and visual effects teams work hard for the Oscar
nominations that eluded them last year and there's spiffing handheld IMAX camera action in the arena where our heroes - a
few mean - looking bad - asses and a bunch of
other contestants we never actually meet - find themselves in a tropical jungle dome laid out like a clock with a wicked surprise in every sector.
The films that produce Best Actress nominees tend to be films that only get Best Actress
nominations and
few others.

nominations) Amy Adams * Ethel Barrymore Lee Grant Agnes Moorehead * Geraldine Page (she has an uncommon half & half record with her
other 4
nominations in lead) Maggie Smith Maureen Stapleton Meryl Streep (one of the
few all time records that doesn't belong to Meryl!)
Leone is even more notable than the
other directors on our list as not only did he never receive an Oscar for direction he didn't even once get a
nomination despite producing such classic Spaghetti Westerns like the trilogy of A Fistful of Dollars, For a
Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Along with its Dorian Awards
nomination for Film of the Year, Call Me By Your Name scored
nominations for Director of the Year (Film or Television), three acting nods — for Timothée Chalamet (Best Performance of the Year, Actor) and Armie Hammer and Michael Stuhlbarg (Supporting Film Performance of the Year, Actor)-- and a
few others.
Some
other interesting notes: Martin Scorsese's Silence is nowhere to be found (Finding Dory is missing as well), and Fences only got a
few acting
nominations.
Her artfully deployed profanity and careful emotional balancing act earned McDormand a
nomination likely to clinch a win, the film's
other lock being Sam Rockwell as a racist lawman with a
few grains of humanity left over.
I can't imagine the Academy going for Black Swan in such a big way as the BFCA did, but on the
other hand it could surely rack up quite a
few nominations if they really love it: Picture, Director, Actress, Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing, Costume Design and so on.
In just a
few days we'll have the Producers Guild
nominations to help (or hamper) the eventual Oscar Best Picture hopefuls but for right now there doesn't seem to be anything
other than Spotlight moving its way closer to...
After optional
nominations from school sites, a small committee selects a
few new teachers to be honored based on discussions with site administrators and
other site level teachers.
Few in - house legal teams received as many
nominations as the Royal Mail Group this year, with GC Maaike de Bie regularly cited by both private practice firms and
other in - house teams.
Nintendo will also be present as they've received a
few nominations including Game of The Year for The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, among
others.
