For some people, even
a few raw nuts cause digestive distress.
While I love broccoli and will never turn down a nice huge salad filled with fruits, veggies, healthy starches like beets and sweet potatoes — along with
a few raw nuts and seeds, my goal through this blog is to share recipes that are healthy that don't involve eating only green recipes.
Feel free to add a garnish of
a few raw nuts or some coconut, or an oil - free granola.

The
raw foodists completely inspired me with their culturing
nut - based cheeses but then just took it a
few steps further.
What's in it: For the french toast --- 1/2 large loaf of multigrain bread, ideally a
few days old, cut into 1 inch cubes (about 5 cups cubes)-- 4 large eggs — 1 1/2 cups vanilla almond milk ** — 1 teaspoons cinnamon — 1 teaspoon vanilla extract — 1/4 teaspoon salt For the apples --- 3 - 4 apples, thinly sliced — 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon — 1 tablespoon coconut oil For the topping --- 1/3 cup roughly chopped
raw nuts and seeds (I used almonds and sunflower seeds)-- 1 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar (depending on your sweetness preference)-- 1/4 teaspoon salt
You see,
raw foods (fresh fruits, vegetables,
nuts, seeds, and a
few others), consumed in the same state as we'd find them in nature (technically, nothing heated above 115F46 C), are considered to provide optimum nutritional value while retaining the natural enzymes that may help us to digest those same foods (when foods are cooked, your pancreas must take on this monumental task on its own — not too much fun for the l'il pancreas).
We like it with a little less honey and a ripe banana blended in, or sometimes with egg yolks and topped with salty
nuts... Once I used
raw spinach to turn it green and added peppermint oil and a
few chocolate drops!
Cashews are the perfect
nut for making creamy
raw desserts, when soaked in water for
few ours and processed get a wonderful smooth cream with a subtle taste.
1 container of vegan ricotta (I prefer Kite Hill) 1 tablespoon of
raw cacao powder 2 tablespoons of maples syrup 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla Depending on how dry or moist your ricotta is — I added a
few tablespoons of
nut - based milk to achieve the consistency I was looking for.
It's easier than you think to take your breakfast from blah to nutrient - packed, simply by tossing in a
few ingredients, such as
raw or toasted
nuts and dried tart cherries.

I use a mix of gluten - free,
raw rolled oats (I love Montana Gluten - Free
raw oatmeal), apple butter, my special DIY Pumpkin
Nut Butter (pictured below which makes this dough nice and thick, and is also low - fat), gluten - free oat bran, flax, coconut flour, and a
few other simple ingredients that thicken these up without any refined flour, butter, eggs or oil.
In the meantime I am going to experiment with some freezable
raw recipes (granola, breakfast cookies, crackers), stock up on
nuts and seeds, and hopefully, be ready to go

few weeks.

There are
few dietary sources of Vitamin E, including

However, a healthy diet of unrefined, plant - based whole foods rich in vegetables, fruits, unrefined grain, beans and legumes, with a
few ounces of
raw nuts or seeds is anti-inflammatory; therefore, high doses of DHA / EPA may not be necessary, nor optimal.

I feel more open to
raw foods than in the past and more satisfied after eating them, especially if a
few nuts are thrown on top.
