Plain quinoa can be rather boring so I decided to spice it up by sauteing a
few sliced apples with cinnamon and honey to top our bowlfuls
of steaming hot quinoa.
She cores and
slices Granny Smiths and Jonagolds and Pink Ladies from a nearby farm, squeezes the juice
of a
few lemons over the
apples, and shakes in some ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and vanilla extract — none
of which she measures.
Add a
few slices of turkey, two

few leaves
of arugula and two more pieces
of brie over the top.
So when I say dessert, I mean like some
apple slices, or a spoonful
of almond butter (this weirdly satisfies my sweet tooth despite being salty), or a square

few slices of Granny Smith or Pink Lady
apples to get tart flavor with a crunchy bite.
Try some berries at breakfast, a
sliced apple (organic Gala is my favorite) sprinkled with cinnamon as a mid-morning snack, or a
few cubes
of fresh pineapple after dinner.
You can also chew on a
few pieces
of beef jerky with nuts and dried fruit, or 3 ounces
of chicken or turkey with
apple slices, or your favorite protein shake.
My morning smoothie recipe is 1/2 banana 1/2 green
apple 2 handful spinach (or kale) 1/2 — 1 cup almond milk 1 - 2 tbs hydrolyzed collagen or rice protein powder that's my base then I add frozen berries or a
few slices of mandarin oranges depending in what's on hand

Sweeten with fruits: You will not negate the benefits
of a kale, spinach and celery juice by adding a
few apple slices or a
few chunks
of kiwi or pineapple.
Maybe think about serving a
few of those 1970s Swanson TV dinners with turkey
slices and
apple brown betty in the center.
Pass out a
few small marshmallows to each child, and tell the students to place them on one
apple slice on top
of the peanut butter.
To ensure a hamster eats a balanced diet every day, provide it with a tablespoon
of commercial food; a
few clean leaves
of lettuce, spinach or dandelion greens; a small, thin
slice of apple (except for dwarf hamster species), a small and a broccoli or cauliflower floret.
