able to agree that there was some intervention by God when I find that I am advising a Catholic
student who brings up the Holy Spirit's work out of the blue, and I just happen to have bought a Catholic Bible (of no particular us to me) a
few days before.
The

Although we have a
few models that have been
able to personalize learning and do a better job of instituting mastery - based learning for
students, no one has figured out how to do it at scale per se yet, and there is still plenty of room for growth in
student outcomes.
The basic idea is that
students learn most when they are engaged, and one of the best ways to engage them is to present them with a problem that they might be
able to solve, then let them struggle with it for a
few unscaffolded minutes.
Proportionately
few students are
able to write or even understand a computer program.
It seems that for a young child, it's important to have a single teacher who knows that child well enough to customize teaching to his or her needs, who spends enough time with
students to be
able to understand and respond to their behavior, and who has
few enough
students to focus energy on building relationships with them.
Although practice tests and classroom drills have raised the pass rate for the reading section of the TAAS in high schools,
few students are
able to use those same skills to complete actual reading assignments outside of class, to make meaning of literature, or to connect reading assignments to other parts of the course such as discussion and writing.
Although many teachers understand the importance of
students doing the work,
few are
able to create the conditions for success within a classroom of 30
students.
As
students become more adept using empty number lines, they can solve problems with
fewer steps; instead of jumping by ten at a time, they might be
able to jump all the tens in one jump (jump 30, or 40, or more, as called for in the problem).
Three to five questions make for a good exit ticket, and
students should be
able to complete the whole thing in just a
few minutes at the end of a class period.
«I have worked with a
few students with mental health issues, and being
able to access their learning without the need to leave home and face other people, or deal with travelling, has given them the opportunity to build confidence with the feedback and encouragement I am now

By implementing a
few new engagement techniques, teachers may be
able to encourage
students to be more engaged in class and to put an end to boredom.
Invest in high - quality assessments that contain
fewer multiple choice items and more constructed responses that require
students to not only know, but be
able to apply, key concepts to unique situations.
Schools with relatively
few disadvantaged
students are widely thought to be
able to recruit teachers of higher and more uniform quality.
Because society needs more citizens who are intrinsically motivated to work and
able self - regulate, and because I think
few of us enjoy being micro-managed, I went searching for ways to give my
students more choice in our multiage classroom while also maintaining the type of engagement that principals and teacher coaches expect to see during their frequent drop - ins during the school day.
A
few states have even passed laws regarding CBL that basically say if a
student can have an educational experience other than classroom seat time, such as study abroad or work experience, then they should be
able to earn credit for those activities.
A learning activity that might take 20 minutes to complete in a classroom setting might take a
few days to discuss online, especially if
students are not
able to be online together at the same time.
The school also has a distance learning program for
students that are not
able to attend classes and only need a
few more credits to graduate.
While music, art and physical education teachers took on a
few additional
students and incorporated reading and math into their lessons, classroom teachers were
able to divide up a smaller pool of
students for more personalized instruction.
This is just a snippet into the lives of teachers, but perhaps you will see why we are so scared, angry, and frustrated at having our livelihoods held captive by just a
few students who have little to no desire to succeed, who are attending merely to be
able to keep their driver's licenses, and who understand that their teacher has no authority to make them do a single thing if they choose no to.
In highly segregated systems, disadvantaged pupils are more likely to be found in less popular schools — with schools serving
few disadvantaged
students less
able to counter the effects of that disadvantage.
With so
few charter schools even possible
able to serve only a limited number of
students it is surprising the argument even survives.
The
fewer cues
students have to remember, the more likely they will be
able to follow them.
And while school counselors who connect
students with CTE coursework and career pathways find it an effective career advising and development strategy, relatively
few are
able to make these connections.
«Every child in the U.S., every college
student, every disconnected youth, every working parent who just wants a
few more credits that might be
able to improve their position at a job, everyone deserves the kind of opportunity I had to get a great education,» he said.
Much depends on the
few states that will be
able to reach beyond the immediate challenges they face, forge a new consensus on broadly shared prosperity as their state goal, and redesign their whole education system so the vast majority of their
students can reach the standards they will need to reach to achieve that goal.
