"Fiddle leaf" refers to a type of plant called the
fiddle leaf fig. It has large, fiddle-shaped leaves, hence the name.

But we went to the store this past weekend to pick up curtains for the same space and there it was: the perfect faux
fiddle leaf fig tree at the perfect height, dimensions just right for our living room.
I've been looking
for fiddle leaf figs but haven't come across one locally.
In the corner, a faux
fiddle leaf plant adds some much - needed height and a bit of «life» to the space, and a pair of rustic birdcages tie in with the yellow and white tones of the bed.
I love the look
of fiddle leaf figs, monstera deliciosas, snake plants, and rubber plants — all of which you'll find in my living room (pictured above).
The woman at the nursery told me the best thing to do
with fiddle leaf figs is indirect light, watering only when very dry and applying a systemic every two months.
I
love fiddle leaf figs and just bought one at IKEA a couple weeks ago (quite a bit smaller and only $ 13).
I don't really know anything
about fiddle leaf figs except that I want one and they need LOTS of light (which means it probably wouldn't be good in my house).
To bring some balance and height to other side of the room, we placed the AMAZING faux

Not a super interesting space, but I had to show it to you because of that darling
little fiddle leaf.
Our air conditioned and heated houses are nothing like the dark, moist tropical climate
where fiddle leaf figs are native.
The entry gets good light from the windows and skylight, but I'm pretty sure
fiddle leafs don't like to be moved so this could prove to be a deadly mistake.

California fiddle leaf fig botanical name Ficus Lyrata requires bright light and is a tropical plant it can not be grown outside below 58 degrees Like the Ficus benjamina they do not like to be moved and do not like drafty areas they tend to drop their leaves.
I guess it is actually kind of a like a spa when I think about it, a spa where weak and
weary fiddle leaf figs to come and rejuvenate themselves in the sunlight during the winter months.

Not going
into fiddle leaf fig land... I stick with indoor plants I can't kill, i.e. the corn leaf palm.
All that said, I don't
think fiddle leafs are the easiest plants to grow indoors to begin with.
And FYI in case I haven't encouraged you to spend enough moola at Target already, that is in fact a
fake fiddle leaf fig tree... and I couldn't be more proud of a fake plant if I tried.
