Upon first glance, the majority of Tomic's oeuvre appears altogether abstract; however, in many of her works, the artist adroitly conceals
figurative elements within an all - over composition brimming with color and texture.
Reistertown Mall seems a logical next step in an evolution of her works where by 1965 Hartigan was integrating
figurative elements within the structure of abstract fields.

With our latest exhibition we have set out to exhibit a group of artists who work
within the scope of analog painting referencing the analogical representational
elements of work that could be seen as
figurative or representational at times.
The
figurative elements are spectral, there and not there, like subconscious phantoms lurking
within the stuff of art.
These latest works simultaneously feature
figurative elements that are ostensibly recognizable — hands, heads, feet — combined with abstract passages that serve to restructure order and dimensionality
within the painting.
While these paintings initially seem like a chaotic mass of neon, codified
within the swirling lines are hidden
figurative elements.
