ABOUT THE EXHIBITION Guest curated by Robert Storr, professor
and dean of the Yale University School of Art
and former senior curator of
painting and sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art, the exhibition
and an accompanying catalogue will bring fresh perspective to these artists
and examine the
figurative impulses that connect them.
The exhibition begins on the fifth floor, entitled America Takes Command: 1950s into the 1960s, with Abstract Expressionism, Fluxus, Junk
Sculpture, Collage
and Assemblage, Anti-Art, Beat Culture, Proto - Pop,
and even some
figurative painting.
The second half of his solo exhibition includes a series of collaborative
figurative sculptures — papier - mâché legs outfitted in Riepenhoff's pants

The Hall of
Sculpture Balcony bears a hefty selection of Nicole Eisenman's
paintings and plaster
sculptures amongst the museum's
figurative marble statues, though the artist's brand of classical
and art historical absurdities seem tame in comparison to the strangeness of satirical
and metaphorical works by Iranian artist Rokni Haerizadeh installed in an adjacent space.
In media, he was all over the map:
painting (abstract
and figurative), drawing, photography, collage,
sculpture, film, installation, performance, sound art; he did them all, often messy, counterintuitive combinations.
Elms includes much strictly formal work such as

Throughout this process a distinct distillation of choices developed for each artist that is wide - ranging but particular: both
figurative and abstract,
sculptures and some works on paper have been selected in addition to
paintings,
and historical as well as contemporary works, are juxtaposed.

paintings from the 1930s
and»40s as well as more
figurative sculptures carved from wood
and stone, «John Dunkley: Neither Day nor Night» opens at Pérez Art Museum Miami May 26, 2017.
His five recent
paintings are joined by Philippe's steel

figurative sculpture Girl (2002), Beverly McIver's triptych self - portrait Reminiscing (2005), Anne Lemanski's portrait of a gorilla Senkwekwe (2009),
and Damian Stamer's abstracted landscape South Lowell 18 (2014).
Peri's show, which includes drawings,
