It's just that there has already been a glut of penguin
films lately (March of the Penguins,
Happy Feet, Farce of the Penguins, Madagascar), and the tedium at seeing yet another feature
film surrounding them unfortunately takes its toll on someone who has seen their share.
However, the makers of
Happy Feet eventually take the
film entirely into a different direction when it becomes a heavy - handed appeal to stop fishing in the Antarctic region, as the poor starving birds must beg humankind to stop stealing their food source so they don't all perish.
Animal Logic, which is producing more of its own fare after providing visual effects for many event
films, has a strong history with Warner Bros that includes the Best Animated Feature Oscar winner
Happy Feet, as well as the blockbusters The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie, with The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part in production.
Perhaps learning from the excesses of
Happy Feet, the creative minds behind this
film make every effort to keep the action and tone light and frothy, even when dealing with such serious issues as bee cruelty and the potential end of human civilization without the important floral pollination process that bees provide.
Miller also produces the
film, along with longtime producing partner, Oscar nominee Doug Mitchell («Babe», «
Happy Feet»), and P.J. Voeten.
Oscar - winning filmmaker Miller («
Happy Feet») is directing the
film from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris.
In the 30 years between those
films and Fury Road, Miller went on to direct The Witches of Eastwick, Lorenzo's Oil, Babe: Pig in the City,

After the huge success his
film has had with the critics awards (winning a half dozen Best Picture prizes) and how Miller himself has performed with them, the Australian born Oscar winner (for
Happy Feet, no less) has bulleted past Ridley Scott (The Martian), who was set to claim the «veteran director without a Directing Oscar» label.
Like
Happy Feet, the
film has a remarkably idiosyncratic shape, that may leave kids (and some parents) puzzled.
From the opening shot, director George Miller (whose other major credit, beside the Mad Max
films, is
Happy Feet, oddly enough) drops us straight into Max's world.
First of all, I hated what I saw of the first
Happy Feet, and the trailer for
Happy Feet Two advertises a
film which looks to be about as bearable as swallowing a glass full of shards of glass.
