The
Infiltrator may lack some of the general pizzazz and true substance that so many
films this genre have, and its story is rather straightforward in the general biography mold, but thanks to an great, all - around cast and legitimate tension, it is a watch that grows on one throughout and slowly but surely hooks the viewer, like a certain stimulant.
That landed him right at the deep end, hired by Leonardo DiCaprio «s Appian Way company to adapt an Atlantic Monthly article into «The
Infiltrator,» a thriller about a British spy undercover in the I.R.A. Again, that
film's not yet made it out of development hell, but it worked, as Zetumer is perhaps the only man to have written for two of the biggest espionage franchises — he did a script polish on 007 entry «Quantum of Solace,» and was hired by Universal (albeit without the knowledge of Paul Greengrass, hence the director's exit from the franchise) to write an unused draft for a fourth «Bourne «movie.
But Strickland has achieved prominence as an auteur - in - exile, almost as if he were a foreign
infiltrator into the predominantly realist world of British
film.
But I really shouldn't bury the lede: if you are going to catch The
Infiltrator (and here, your Cranston fandom and / or your interest in drug war
films not starring Emily Blunt will surely factor in), you should know that you get to see Diane Kruger rock some serious fashion while nailing the tricky role of a smart and rookie undercover agent playing Bob's arm candy fiancée, you get to witness Olympia Dukakis chew scenery as Mazur's Aunt Vicki, who's not as clean - cut as her nephew, and you get to watch Amy Ryan... well, sadly not all the women could get choice roles here, now could they?
The
film itself was a decent enough legal thriller and now with The
Infiltrator, Furman explores the other side of the law.
