acting wise, the
film absolutely doesn't cut it.
Based on the real life story of Tom Murton, this sure is a worthy tale to tell, however I found the whole
film pretty boring and I have to say Robert Redford did absolutely nothing for me
acting wise.
He's less convincing as the older,
wiser Paz of the
film's second half, but that's as much a scripting problem as an
acting one.
Acting wise it is Alexandra Daddario as stranded daughter Blake who delivers the best performance in the
film.
To sum it all up: Demo - quality video and audio (with or without Dolby Atmos), but not such great
film in terms of how it plays out the story and
acting wise.
Indeed the casting of Gleeson was a
wise move as his presence
acts as another way to infuse some freshness into the
film, which for the most part is populated by Curtis» usual collaborators, like Bill Nighy, whose performance is highly watchable, if not particularly new or taxing.
