I'm what's known in script terms
as a bit of a
sounding board, but it's a very charming, touching
film, and I did it to work with Rebecca and Jason, who were just great and funny.
Buddy might be quicker to act on his feelings if he weren't married to Jess (Analeigh Tipton), the
film's quietest and most contented character, who spends a lot of time acting
as a
sounding board for her unhappy sister, Sam (Lily Rabe).
Returning for this sequel is Kristen Wiig
as Lucy (a different character than Wiig voiced in the first
film),
sounding more or less like a boisterous version of the actress's natural persona, and coming on
board is Benjamin Bratt (Snitch, The Great Raid), completely not like himself with an over-the-top Mexican accent for Eduardo, Antonio's father.
The
film, however, is only ostensibly about this likeable but milquetoast couple; their relationship unwavering throughout, Tom and Gerri rather serve
as a
sounding -
board for the more conflicted personalities of their family and friends, from their devoted 30 year - old son Joe (Oliver Maltman), whose singledom concerns him more than he lets on, to Ken (Peter Wight), a rudderless, borderline - alcoholic college pal of Tom's.
The
film is great and it
sounds like Ryan Reynolds is completely on
board as he praised the movie on Facebook and Instagram:
Their 21 - minute video, «Permission Streak,»
filmed with handheld cameras, GoPros and drones, is screened in a carpeted mini-theater strewn with gym mats, a «custom diving bunk,» message
boards and ambient
sound (the installation
as a whole is called «Safety Pass»).
