Some of the
films in the
collection are made by white directors, but the difference between our
films and
films like HALLELUJAH or GREEN PASTURES is that those
films were intended
for a broad audience.

That the
film feels slight as a result is inescapable and expected, but moments of enduring depth lurk within its midst: witness the striving
for a statue under attack, the hanging of a painting in a ransacked house, and the mournful
collection of confiscated items in enormous warehouses.
There are no supplements on the DVD but the Blu - ray has a substantial
collection, including the well - made 50 - minute documentary «Michael Haneke: My Life,» which was made
for German TV during the production of «The White Ribbon» and features interviews with stars of his previous
films (including Juliette Binoche and Isabelle Huppert), and the 38 - minute «Making Of The White Ribbon,» which features a wealth of revelatory footage with Haneke rehearsing his cast (especially with the kids) and directing on the set.
