Even the biggest
film fan would acknowledge that it's very difficult to
get to know someone when conversation is forbidden until the credits roll, but at a concert there's plenty of time to chat between songs, while the songs themselves help to fill any awkward silences.
It's Spielberg's best and truest action
film since Jaws, relentlessly paced, pitch - perfectly acted (the young
Fanning is almost certain to
get a Best Supporting Actress nod come Oscar time), and rife with moments of such horrifically poetic imagery that it's all you can do not to stop thinking about them long after the
film has ended.
The music is quite twisted and cool, the
film definitely has the most unique take on a classic, and it succeeds in
getting a point across while pleasing exploitation
fans.
That's right, Ryan Gosling
fans, with this
film, Refn first
got his Danish derrière (Oh, wait, that's French) over here to America, and you know what, that was the time critics decided to question some of his storytelling methods, either because foreign
films are much easier to forgive for their pretentiousness - I mean, «experimental artistic vision», or simply because Refn had so little of an idea on how to bring his visions to America that he decided to
get John Turturro, of all people, as his lead.
Filled with horribly written dialogue and a plot that really doesn't go anywhere, this first instalment doesn't do to
get fans to return, although I'm sure the readers will be there on day one of all three
films.
I've never been a
fan, as a rule of horror movies, however, the trailer drew me to this one and i'm glad it did, the awful acting we usually
get in horror movies wasn't there this time round, in fact, the whole cast were excellent, the special effects were really very good and the humorous, intelligent dialogue (another thing you don't usually
get in horrors) was brilliant, loved the
film, Chris Hemsworth, although with less to do in this than he does in Thor, was great in it too.
And although Hurwitz and Schlossberg have admittedly peppered the proceedings with a handful of hilarious gags (eg Stifler finally
gets his revenge on Finch for sleeping with his mother), American Reunion, saddled with a hopelessly sentimental third act, ultimately establishes itself as an overlong and underdeveloped sequel that could only be loved by hardcore
fans of the original
film.
Sure,
fans of the book watched it and may have
got some enjoyment out of it, but the story, accompanied by the god - awful dialogue, really does make this
film a treat to watch, even if you can admit how bad it is.
Fight
film fans will
get a kick out of some of the vocal cameos (including Jean Claude Van Damme as a kung fu fighting Alligator).
Someone, somewhere has been keeping a list of all the «Harry Potter» required
fan moments of the entire series, from just the right villain meeting his end to just the right couple
getting together, and Yates and screenwriter Steve Kloves spend the last nearly 90 minutes of the
film paying them off.
A passable popcorn movie, but
fans of the first
film who expect lightning to strike twice are liable to
get burned.
With dogged determination, the producers continued onward with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), at which point
fans finally flocked to the series, rallying behind the
film's crisp space battles and the melodramatic tête - à - tête between Shatner and Ricardo Montalban.Shatner had to wrestle with his advancing age and the deaths of several characters in Star Trek II and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), but by Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), the actor
got to indulge in his more whimsical side, which has since characterized his career.
Rope is a classic picture, one that definitely needs to be seen by genre
fans, and it's a
film that steadily builds up the tension, in order for the viewer to really
get into the story and not turn away.
However, if you've
got kids or you're a
fan of Spike Jonze's
film, you might be up for some Rumpus.
This is another prime example of how «critics» will slam any
film that doesn't fit their own agenda and how they will slam a
film that
fans love for the sake of
getting those precious clicks on their site.
Now, many Anderson
fans would probably prefer that he shoot for the moon and try to adapt Gravity's Rainbow, but considering that his latest
film, The Master, with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jeremy Renner,
got derailed during rehearsals, Anderson probably wants to tackle a Pynchon novel that's a little more manageable.
Having never been much of a
fan of genre labels, the idea that this
film should be judged differently because it has female stars irks me a bit, but if that
gets more people into theatre seats and away from the junk that typically qualifies as «entertainment for women,» I'll happily embrace it.
So
get ready western
fans, this
film is set to do you justice as Lone Ranger and Silver rides into the sunset!
X-men Apocalypse surprised me, as the trailers that I had seen (despite
getting me excited as I'm a big
fan of the
films) didn't do the
film any justice at all.
Very hard to ignore the desire from
fans to see Widow
get her own solo adventure, while all the boys seem to
get multiple
films.
The Castle Rock Entertainment
film, however, gives Johnson's
fans something to be thankful for, however, as he
gets back in touch with his action roots.
Not only did it include all - new footage from the upcoming Marvel Studios
film,
fans also
got their first look at Captain America's new shield, thanks to the African nation of Wakanda.

Even though it is mostly
getting positive reviews, Ant - Man still has one very big hurdle to overcome: the lukewarm reception by audiences, and the very real possibility that by breaking from the Marvel mold, the
film positions itself to alienate and confuse die hard
fans of the MCU formula.

get kind reviews when their
films find theatrical release... But Oscar nominations seem pretty unlikely (at least for now).
Set in the late 70s, the
film positively revels in an exaggerated version of the era — so much smog, so much hair — and the Los Angeles setting means that it
gets to mimic all the detective fiction of which Black's always been such a
fan.

Infinity War definitely succeeded as a whole but it's also not quite the

fan of Will Sasso, then there is no way you won't like this
film as he
gets a chance to shine in the starring role.
