In the work of New York - based artist Alejandro Cesarco, I am reminded of his most recent
film work on view as part of his exhibition, Song, at the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago, which was revisited, restaged, and recomposed.

film feels as though Anderson is taking her thought processes
on a peripatetic ramble with no obvious destination in mind — although there's a circularity about the
work that suggests she has a distinct path in
view all along, despite appearances.
It's that rare
film that
works on every single level, to the extent that multiple
viewings reveals multiple
films.
For instance, I happen to know from a conversation I had with him while he was
working on the
film that he rejects the
view of Turner presented in Styron's 1967 The Confessions of Nat Turner, but you wouldn't know it given the way he adapts several scenes from the novel.
You get real insight into the man, his
work and his
views on life, but Marguiles and Ponsoldt have used the source material (the dialogue is overwhelmingly from Lipsky's transcripts) to make a great conversation movie, in the mold of Richard Linklater's «Before»
films, that happens to feature the acclaimed novelist.
It's another reason this
film could
work great
on repeat
viewings.
Lindsay Duncan enters the
film in the second half as a close minded theater critic, much more interested in ruining Riggan's comeback
on principle than bothering to
view the
work from an unbiased perspective.

Well, Jesus walks in Chelsea this month at Gladstone, where an early pair of videos that Barney

work together for the first time in a quarter century.

One of the very best
