A production line for the ultra-filtration of
whey was also installed to separate
proteins for refined
whey products (
whey protein additives for the food industry) and also a
filter for reversed osmosis treatment of the permeate from ultra-filtration to concentrate the liquid for production of animal feed, which is sold
as a by product (the cleaned water can then be disposed of in waste water systems and discharged to the environment).
This is the same
protein as isolate just not
as filtered so there is lactose and anywhere from 70 % to 80 %
whey protein in the mixture.
Whey protein which already has high amount of BCAAs is great to be consumed pre and post-workout, but considering that even the purest, most
filtered protein brands have around 100 calories in a serving, some people prefer that they save the
protein for after the workout in the form of a
protein shake or
as a meal replacement.
