The weather is stunning, we're
finally out of the rain and cold, and summer is on the horizon.

This season has been exceptionally fabulous because we're
finally heading
out of a drought and the
rains have brought nourishment to our little garden orchard.
After the Holiday and
Rain -
Out, we
finally got our first true glimpse
of Team Chi O & Co..
I'm looking forward to March with high hopes that it might
finally bring us some sunshine, because if not the next monthly wrap up might just include a lot
of me looking annoyed in sweat pants and hoodies staring
out of rain - splattered window panes.

finally came
out on Sunday resulting in the most gorgeous day.
We open, for instance, in the
rain, as a throbbing Tindersticks track underscores a series
of beautiful but inscrutable nocturnal images: glimpses
of a man forlornly staring
out his window, languorous tracking shots
of a nude young woman in heels roaming through a deserted street, and
finally a tableau
of a dead man's body splayed
out beneath a fire escape, surrounded by paramedics in the background as a woman, probably his wife, is draped in a tinfoil blanket in the fore.
It's a skillfully constructed, cleansing realization that
rains down upon its merchant
of deception as it segues from inside the character's head as the musical truth
finally wins
out..
Because this is Badass Week and I was
finally able to break
out Brutal Legend for about 3 hours last night after work, I expect most
of my scattered brainstorming to
rain down in that direction.
One
of the sixteen small paintings that plays with me — holds me — the most is grounded by shiny reflections reminiscent
of pennies in a wishing well, layered with these thick, orgasmic (for the painterly painter), awkward rectangles
of material exploration which bar
out Washington like stacks
of gold or grids
of currency, all
finally subtitled with the words, «I HOPE IT
RAINS» — maybe or maybe not a reference to the Louis Prima song, «Pennies from Heaven.»

After all this time, Californians thought they

out to be a train, so to speak; experts are now reducing the probabilities
of relief in the near future.
