They grow some varieties of hot chillis in greehouses there and since we get them here, I would imagine that they are also imported into the U.K. I would imagine that you can
find dried chillis imported from Mexico, but I don't know anyone who exports fresh chillis to the U.K. — Dave

All one can
find is a Masala paste, a mixture of garlic, ginger and
chillies, I have a lot of other spices and would prefer doing my own
dry mix, it is also easy to
find spices if and when I need.
Here is the ingredient list I
found for the brand I recommended:
Dried red
chilli, Shallot, Garlic, Soybean oil, Sugar, Salt, Fresh turmeric, Lemongrass, Spices (coriander seeds, cumin, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaves, lesser galangal, cloves), Galangal, Curry powder (mustard, cumin, coriander, fenugreek, wheat flour,
chilli, pepper, fennel, turmeric), Kaffir lime.
I have some useful hints for peoople having difficulties with
finding mexican
chillies (eg, in Germany): I used some
dried peppers I
found in a turkish supermarket.
At this time of year, when you can not
find fresh
Chillies easily, the only solution is to buy
dried either in powder, flakes or whole pods but here we have something in between flakes and whole pods.
We have some supply of
dried chillis, which we
find some boxes infested sometimes with bugs, either a
chilli moth or small white worms.
I did
find it a little bland following their seasoning guide lines, I added more than in the recipe and some heat too with some
dried chilli, or fresh if i have it.
