As above, the game will automatically start a game with bots if it can't
find human opponents, so you could begin a multiplayer match with three bots.

Taking on AI enemies and clearing out nests of terrorists is pretty dang fun at first but the novelty wears off after a while and I
found myself returning to standard multiplayer for the satisfaction of playing against
human opponents before too long.
If you're surrounded, however, you may have several
opponents try to attack at the same time — and Arno's far more
human than Ezio or Edward and will fall to enemy blades if he
finds himself surrounded by more than three foes in most cases.
Luckily, fighting games are best enjoyed against a
human opponent, and solo play is secondary if you're able to
find a sparring partner.
