«
We found the shallow reefs near the shore were actually healthier than the outer coral reefs,» recalls Lisa Carne, an American - born marine biologist who manages the internationally funded reef restoration project Fragments of Hope.
A group of biologists from the Tasmanian Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute has

find huge barrel sponges and coral bommies adorned with gorgonian fans of many species and colours.
Although algae cover much of the

finding capabilities and swimming skills to get through
shallow reef water, this probably won't be necessary but for inexperienced snorkelers, I think it's a great way to avoid trouble.

When you
find a little spot on the
reef to take in the action you will often see small groups of mantas swooping in and around the
shallows.
