On the beaches of Ribeira Quente, Agua d'Alto and Populo, you'll
find tidal pools and volcanic sands scattered along the island which are great for ecotourism and exploration.

The
tidal pool is always a hive of activity, not only does it boast gorgeous views but you will always
find people sitting on the beach gazing out into the ocean, children swimming (mostly in summer), families playing soccer on the grass, eager fishermen trying their luck for the day and more.

Aside from the tropical islands, here is where I've
found one of the most beautiful
tidal pools I've seen as of yet.
Other than St James»
tidal pool many of the
pools lie hidden from the coastal road in False Bay, and are not that easy to
find.
But parents come here for the spotlessly clean beach, the relatively wind - free and calm waters, and the
tidal pool, which you'll
find at the south end of the beach on the opposite end from the surfers.
You can make long hikes along the picturesque coastline, bathe in
tidal pools or
find a place under a palm tree for loafing and reading a book.
Kariega, its main beach, has blue flag status (stand in the car park overlooking the beach and it's not difficult to work out why), whilst Middle beach is a
find for families, its long strip of gentle beach and sea riddled with
tidal pools for paddling and snorkelling.
Here, we snorkeled around angelfish and wrasses, and explored
tidal pools where we
found hermit crabs the size of a baby's fingernails.
This secluded
tidal pool offers protection from the often stormy Atlantic Ocean and this is where you will
find the Boat House where you can swim in the Atlantic Ocean at high tide in lukewarm water, or stroll down to the beach, a mere 50m away and sit and wait for low tide to catch fresh crayfish to be enjoyed with a glass of white wine from the area.
There is a small creek in the Bay which is a permanent
tidal pool, ideal for children to
find crabs, hermit crabs and other sea creatures.
