I can't tell you how many people come into our store, not even realizing that anything other than WAX exists — I call it a necessity for scenarios like cabinets, an every day table, vanity and desk tops, kids furniture... Topcoat is like brushing on water — no need to thin, it dries quick, leave a mild satin finish, and cures to a harder
finish than wax.
Both are easy to use, easy cleanup, non-yellowing, and in my opinion, provide a more durable, longer lasting
finish than wax.

Also, it's definitely stronger
than wax, and I like that it comes in different
finishes so your surface can be matte, satin or glossy.
I use poly over chalk paint because it gives a great smooth
finish and holds up to wear and tear better
than a
wax.

It feels very smooth, but
waxing it, especially dark
waxing it, brings out that subtle texture STILL and makes it more interesting and unique
than just a completely smooth, flat
finish you would get with latex.
