Developing your routine in conjunction with teaching your puppy when and where «to go» is the
first and most important
lesson to begin
training your new puppy (or adopted
dog).
In general, owners of these bigger
dogs tend to spend more in
first year obedience
training lessons to ensure they behave properly (the bigger and older they become, the harder it is to control and break their bad habits).
First there should be exceptions to when the
dog IS allowed to threaten or bite, which would be considered provocation... those would include: a.) Legitimate self defense; b.) Defense of territory; c.) Defense of pack — human family, other home pets, and such; d.) Establishment of a reasonable pack order within the home; e.) Mouthing (which is not the same as being aggressive); f.) While being
trained during
lessons, and in the midst of long term maintenance
training, to teach a
dog to contain it's drives and aggression; g.) For legitimate police work — if a police force obtains ownership and control of the
dog, then the court order should be rescinded and the
dog be given a fresh start; h.) Legitimate hunting purposes (such as duck hunting).
Therefore, I only board and
train dogs who have come here
first, for at least one private
lesson!
Although additional
training is rarely needed, if you are having any trouble in the
first 3 months after your
dog goes home, we will provide 2 free private
lessons at the location of your choice (250 mile maximum range), and additional private
lessons will be scheduled at our facility.
