The game is trying to deliver an old school arcade feel to the game while still being fresh by providing the mention coop mode, a variety of weapons, abilities and
gameplay mechanics, and it's set in a type of game mode where you restart from the very
first level each time you start the game or die, while still keeping it interesting with enough diversity to make every play
session entertaining.
The soundtrack for Putty Squad is somewhat underwhelming and very quickly becomes tedious after the
first few play
sessions and I found myself muting the game sounds in favour of listening to music on my phone — the good thing with a game like Putty Squad is that the audio isn't essential for the
gameplay experience, you lose very little playing the game either without sound or with an alternative soundtrack.
Right after the
first session, the game impresses with its simple, yet immensely addictive
gameplay which keeps you pushing forward eager to discover what lies ahead.
It's a fascinating illustration of how to evolve a
gameplay concept, and jettisons the linear structure of the
first game in favour of a more open, randomised set - up, with each
gameplay session differing greatly from the last.
