The nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the United States Supreme Court raises the prospect that for the
first time in history there will be a
supermajority of justices on the same court affiliated to one degree or another with the Catholic Church.
The bill required a
supermajority and only 12 Republicans voted for the act, which proposed giving as much as $ 7.4 billion to people who were exposed to Ground Zero toxins, including
first responders, firefighters, rescue workers, police officers, EMTs, cleanup workers, area residents and schoolchildren.
